He's a friend of mine from back home. Well, kinda. He's from an alternate version of my world where I either don't exist or he hasn't met me yet.

An Areodactyl attacked him. Not sure exactly what happened, but he was in pretty bad shape when we found him.

Damn, I'll bet. I've got a friend from back home that got mauled by one of those things too, a couple months ago. I mean, he kinda brought it on himself, since the only reason why it attacked him in the first place was because he climbed up Sprout Tower and wrestled it outta the air like a dumbass, but yeah, he was pretty fucked up for a while afterwards.

[Seriously, it's a good thing that Yusuke here isn't squeamish when it comes to blood, because if he were, seeing Jin all torn up after his encounter with Riki probably would've made him pass the fuck out. As it is, the only reactions he'd had when he found him were horror and an incredulous (and, all things considered, very hypocritical) anger over how stupid he'd been. He might've given Jin a high five for surviving the ordeal once he'd gotten patched up, but you better believe that if that windy bastard pulls another stunt like that again and doesn't at least make sure to bring Yusuke along so that he can be on stand-by in the event that the situation goes awry, Yusuke is totally gonna correct the deficiency in his brain by punching him in the head. >:(]

Yeah, that's him. You guys know each other?

[Yusuke seems a little surprised that she mentioned him, though perhaps he shouldn't be. It's not like this place is that big, compared to, y'know, the world back home.]

Oh, nice. Well, anyway, like I was sayin', he was kinda out of commission for a couple weeks, but he bounced back from it pretty quickly after that. I bet your friend'll probably do the same.

So what is this Steve guy, anyway? Is he just a regular human, or...?

I don't want to say too much, it's his story to tell, not mine, but he's a super hero. My version of Steve worked with me to lead the Avengers for a while.

[She doesn't know how much this Steve's origins matches her's, or how much he's comfortable with others knowing. Best to leave it open.]

[That's a fair answer. Yusuke would probably give a similar one if someone asked him about one of his, uh, Not A Regular Human friends, so he doesn't push the issue. Instead, he asks her:]

"Avengers"? Is that part of that organization you said you worked for?

[He's tempted to ask about her use of the term "super hero" instead, since it evokes mental images of capes and spandex (seriously, who the hell would actually fight in that stuff? Hah!), but he'll leave that for another time. This sounds way more interesting.]

It was the hero group I was in for a while. I don't know if I'd say I worked for them, but I did get a living stipend. The organization was SHIELD.
