3rd flight [Video/ Action for anyone in Violet city]

Hey guys, I know this is a bit late, this week has been super crazy, but I wanted to show off the latest addition to my team-

[The camera turns around to show a little Dratini sitting up, staring back at the camera.]

Say hi, Mar-Vell!

[The Dratini lets out a happy sound (a strange mix of a coo and a purr) before curling up into a ball, occasionally peaking out at the camera from behind his tail]

He hatched Thursday. I- [There's an indignant squawk and the camera turns once again to focus on a rather perturbed looking Pidgeotto]

I was getting to you! Geez. Boston evolved shortly before Mar-Vell hatched.

[The camera turns back to face Carol. She looks pretty relaxed, the most relaxed she's appeared on the network since she got here]

You know, aside from being kidnapped and brought here against my will, this place isn't too bad.

It is pretty nice for me. He packs quite a punch for just hatching.

Great. He can help you stick your nose in things that're none of your business.

Yeah, and he can help me stop grown men from punching much smaller women.

Can he stop thieves and kidnappers too? Maybe he can do it by asking real nice.

He can, but I'll make sure he knows how to detain a fleeing suspect with out using violence as a first option.

[Blake growls] It wasn't the first. I tried talking to her and it didn't work.

If she was innocent she should't've been stealing from people.

So you went straight from talking to punching? Didn't they teach you how to detain a suspect?

I didn't have time for that. I had to get what I could before some crazy asshole vigilantes came and grabbed the wrong person.

[Blake's voice is rising, and his face is turning red.]

And I still never found the girl!

Yeah, because you definitely shouldn't have gone to jail for assault.

She'll get caught for theft eventually, and next time by someone who actually knows how to do their job.

It's not assault when it's a criminal.

[oh you did not just go there]

Not from what I've seen you don't.

You don't know what you're goddamn talking about. See, guys like me, we don't get any fancy fucking planes. We have to make do with what we have. People who hesitate die, or they get other people killed.

[That hits Carol in a place that had her wishing she's actually gotten a chance to punch Blake. Repeatedly.]

You know what hesitation does when you're landing a supersonic fighter plane on an aircraft carrier? Or what it does NASA command officer has to make a split second decision how to save his crew's lived but then has to wait several minutes to find out if it even worked? Hesitation trying to decide if the person holding a gun to your head is a friend carrying out their role or if they've gone rouge and are about to kill you. Don't talk to me about hesitation, Blake. Don't talk to me about split second decisions or people's lives depending on you.

[You and half the population of Philadelphia.]

[The fact that she should be able to understand makes him mad in a whole new way.]

Then you should fucking get it! A kids' life was on the line, lady! I'd do anything I had to.

[Though Blake's not aware of it, his voice loses some of its force.] You start second-guessing shit, everything falls apart.

You acted brashly with little to no evidence! You can't just go around trying to detain people on suspicion of kidnapping because they're wearing a matching bow in their hair. You're a cop, you're suppose to be one of the good guys. Do you know why punk teenagers don't like cops? Why kids go to gangs instead of making something productive with their lives? Because cops like YOU alienate them! You rush in, guns blazing, and innocent people get caught in the crossfire. How many innocent men and women do you think you've put in jail? Because the way you acted last week I can guarantee you that number is at least doubled. Those people leave family and friends behind who, whenever they think of law enforcement can now only think of you're face as you took their innocent loved one from them!

How the hell else are you supposed to get evidence?! What if she did have the kid and I'd let her walk away? I couldn't take that chance!

[The more she talks, the redder Blake turns.]

You're gonna blame me for everything wrong with fucking society? I'm the one trying to fix this shit! There's plenty of people who whine about how you should be nicer to goddamn criminals, but they change their minds real fast when they're the ones getting held up. What's the worse thing, an innocent guy in jail or a guilty one on the streets?

[Rage is getting some good momentum when the last part breaks through and hits him like a punch in the gut.]

[That kid sobbing at him. You're a murderer.]

I didn't kill him!

[Carol has a feeling the topic just changed without her realizing it.]

[Blake is drawing breath to yell some more when he's knocked off balance.]

[a little uncertainly] The guy you were just talking about.

[Shaun must have told her.]

I was speaking in broad generalities. Have you actually been accused of killing someone? Not that that would surprise me but you seem pretty defensive for someone claiming innocence.

[Well, shit.]

[Blake can't back down now.]

Yeah, but I didn't do it. If I'd killed him, I'd say so. I've had to bring down crazy bastards before.

The kicker is he's not dead.

What do you mean he isn't dead? How do you get accused of a murder that didn't happen?

[Carol knows how, but this guy comes from a place where magic and mutants aren't a thing, right?]

Hell if I know. This kid here is convinced I killed him, but back in the real world I just saw him on TV the other day. If he was dead, I'd've heard about it.

[He still hasn't figured that one out.]

Why does this kid think you killed him?

[This wreaks of alternate dimension bull shit. Great, she's going to have to explain alternate universes to this asshole.]

He says he saw it. That was right after he'd been locked in a well for four days and was barely conscious.

[It's not his favorite topic, but it's better the lady finds out from him than somebody else. He doesn't need any other crazy bitches with half the story trying to beat the shit out of him.]

The guy could've gotten shot, since everything pointed to him being the son of a bitch who did it, but he was lucky.

[That father all over the news for going through hell to save his kid: Blake came real, real close to gunning him down. It happens. You work on the information you have, and if you start thinking about what could have happened, you'll drive yourself nuts. He doesn't let it bother him.]

[That's gotten a lot harder since he got here.]

Maybe he did see it. Alternate realities are a thing you know. [She's knows first hand. Several times over] Maybe the you from his reality shot him but he didn't.

[Wait...]

If this guy was suspected in his kidnapping why does the kid care so much?
